Better Access Telehealth services were introduced to enhance ease of access to, and increase choice in, mental health services in rural and remote areas of Australia. It is widely recognised that there is a scarcity of mental health professionals in some of the more remote areas of Australia, and this can act as a significant barrier for those who need to access these services. Eligible patients all around Australia will continue to have access to GP, nursing, midwifery and allied health services via telehealth where the health professional deems it clinically appropriate.
